Telework: Being productive remotely, outside of the office

Telework can be defined as ‘working regularly from a place other than the office, in most cases from a home office. It utilises information and communications technology to stay connected to colleagues and work systems’.

Whilst hands-on clinical care is essential in General Practice, it may be possible to perform some functions outside your practice in a teleworking environment. Telework uses online tools like email, instant messaging, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and video conferencing, teleconferencing for team meetings, broadcast emails, web cams or web-conferencing.

Teleworking can result in positive benefits in a range of areas, including environmental and work-life flexibility. To read more about Telework, visit the RACGP website
